Polaris Metallic BMW
Description
Polaris Metallic (OEM code 060) is one of the most iconic and distinguished silver shades from BMW's golden era, immortalized during the late 1960s and 1970s. This color defined the visual presence of legendary models such as the iconic 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL "Batmobile," the sophisticated BMW 2002 Tii, and the elegant E9 series coupés (2000 CS, 2800 CS, and 3.0 CS). Representing the perfect marriage between German luxury and high-competition DNA in the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC), Polaris Metallic accents bodylines with a luminous, timeless, and deeply technical silver brilliance.
Specially developed for high-precision modeling, this paint offers absolute color fidelity in a Metallic Basecoat finish. Its formula features a metallic micro-pigmentation strictly adjusted for scales (1/24, 1/12, 1/18), which completely avoids the "coarse flake effect" or out-of-scale appearance common in real car paints. Ready to use in an airbrush, it ensures fluid atomization, excellent coverage, and quick drying for a perfectly homogenous finish.
đĄ Laboratory Application Tips
- Preparation (Primer): Application over Light Grey Primer is recommended to guarantee maximum luminosity of the metallic pigments and a perfectly neutral, uniform background.
- Painting Technique: Apply in thin, crossed, mist coats, with an airbrush pressure between 1.5 and 1.8 bar, avoiding wet heavy passes to ensure perfect orientation of the metallic flakes without blotching.
- Finishing: This paint dries to a matt finish. To achieve a realistic factory finish and protect decals, the application of a high-quality Gloss Clearcoat is required.
â ïž Chromatic Fidelity Notes
Real Scale vs. Miniature: This formula has been laboratory-tuned to mitigate the "scale effect," ensuring that the light reflection on the miniature is proportional to that of the real vehicle.
Visual note: Digital images are for reference only. The three-dimensional metallic effect and the authentic brilliance of the pigment are only fully visible after model application and varnishing.
