Deep Magenta: a rich purple-pink with serious attitude
Deep Magenta is a bold, saturated purple-pink of the kind that American manufacturers have periodically offered on their muscle and performance cars, where loud colour is part of the personality. It suits muscle cars, hot rods and custom builds, and it looks equally at home on bikes, lowriders and fantasy vehicles. For modelers it is a way to make a build stand out instantly on the shelf, and its depth rewards a clean, glossy clear coat.
Getting the tone right
Blues, greens and purples change character with the primer underneath and the number of coats. Build the colour in light, even passes over the recommended primer and you get the same tone on every panel.
How to apply
- Shake the bottle for at least 60 seconds.
- Prime with a grey primer and let it dry fully.
- Airbrush straight from the bottle, no thinning needed. Use a 0.2–0.4 mm nozzle at around 20 PSI (1.4 bar) and apply light, cross-hatched coats, letting each one flash off before the next.
- Let the paint cure overnight before masking or clear-coating.
- Seal with a water-based clear coat: gloss for a factory shine, or satin or matte for work vehicles and interiors.
- Clean the airbrush with water before the paint dries.
