Guide: Koloi Aqua Spray

Koloi Aqua Spray is Koloi Aqua colour in a ready-to-use 400 ml can, for large surfaces such as 1:8, 1:10 and 1:12 bodies, R/C shells, bases and big static models. No airbrush, no thinning and no cleaning.

You will need

  • Your Koloi Aqua Spray colour
  • A primed base: grey primer for solid colours and light metallics, black for dark metallics and pearls, a metallic base for candies (see the preparation guide)
  • A test piece (a spare part or a plastic spoon)
  • A mask and a well-ventilated place, ideally outdoors

Step by step

  1. Prepare and prime the parts. A neutral grey base keeps mid tones accurate and helps coverage; dark metallics and pearls read deepest over a smooth black base, and candies need a metallic base.
  2. Shake the can for at least one minute.
  3. Test on a spare piece to check the shade and the spray pattern.
  4. Spray light, even passes from about 20–30 cm, keeping the can moving. Start and finish each pass off the part.
  5. Build the colour in several thin coats. Several thin coats beat one heavy coat.
  6. Let each coat cure fully before masking or clear-coating.

What usually goes wrong

Runs

The can was too close or stopped over the part. Keep 20–30 cm and keep the can moving.

Rough, dusty finish

The can was too far away, so the paint dried before reaching the part. Come closer, within 20–30 cm.

Spitting or blobs

The can was not shaken enough. Shake for at least one minute before use and again during long sessions.

Safety

Pressurised container: may burst if heated. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. Do not pierce or burn, even after use. Protect from sunlight and do not expose to temperatures above 50 °C. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Keep out of reach of children. Read the label and Safety Data Sheet before use.

Shipping

Aerosol cans are dangerous goods for transport (UN1950), whatever the paint inside. They ship by road only, to Portugal and continental EU countries, and cannot be sent by air, to the islands or outside the EU.
