Desert yellow is a pale, warm sand tone used on vehicles and equipment in desert theatres. Second World War armour in North Africa, and many modern vehicles in desert regions, carried sand and tan finishes like this. Aircraft modellers use it for desert camouflage, and diorama builders for sand, dust and dry soil. Weathered with washes and pigments it gives a convincing, sun-bleached look. Spray it over a white or grey primer.
A matte finish hides nothing: fingerprints, uneven coats and gloss patches all show. Spray light, even coats, avoid handling the parts, and finish with a matte clear to keep the sheen consistent.
Estimated shelf life of more than 12 months when stored tightly closed between +10 °C and +28 °C, away from frost and direct sunlight. Shake well before use; if the paint has thickened or separated and does not remix, do not use it.
