Pearl Blue: GT3 night-blue pearl

This pearl blue is based on RAL 5026 pearl night blue, a deep navy with a pearlescent sheen, and is matched to a BMW M6 GT3 racing livery with a well-known games-console sponsor. RAL 5026 sits among the RAL Effect pearl shades and is seen on vehicles, signage and design objects. In GT racing, deep blue pearls give a car a premium look under the lights and on camera. Modelers use it for 1:24 GT3 kits and for any modern racer or road car that needs a dark, glowing blue.

The problem with pearls

Pearl effects show every mistake: wet passes cluster the pearl into blotches, and uneven coats change the colour from panel to panel. Controlled, even, slightly drier passes give a smooth, consistent shimmer.

How to apply

1. Shake the bottle for at least 60 seconds.
2. Prime with a black primer and let it dry fully.
3. Airbrush straight from the bottle, no thinning needed. Use a 0.2–0.4 mm nozzle at around 20 PSI (1.4 bar) and apply light, cross-hatched coats, letting each one flash off before the next.
4. Keep the airbrush moving at a constant distance for an even effect.
5. Let the paint cure overnight before masking or clear-coating.
6. Seal with a water-based clear coat: gloss for a factory shine, or satin or matte for work vehicles and interiors.
7. Clean the airbrush with water before the paint dries.

Shelf life

Estimated shelf life of more than 12 months when stored tightly closed between +10 °C and +28 °C, away from frost and direct sunlight. Shake well before use; if the paint has thickened or separated and does not remix, do not use it.
