Description

Gulf Orange is far more than just a striking, vibrant hue; it represents one half of the most iconic and revered racing liveries in motorsport history. This color achieved mechanical immortality during the late 1960s and early 1970s, dressing absolute track legends such as the Ford GT40 Mk I (Le Mans winner in 1968 and 1969) and the iconic 1970 Porsche 917K driven by Steve McQueen in the legendary film Le Mans. Crossing the barrier from track to street, this high-energy shade has remained alive within Porsche's official historical catalog (color code 019) and modern hypercars via their Paint to Sample program, keeping the raw spirit of endurance racing intact.

Engineered specifically for high-precision scale modeling, this paint reproduces the exact vividness and high contrast of the original racing color. Featuring a Solid Finish, its advanced formula utilizes fine micro-pigmentation optimized for 1:24, 1:12, or 1:43 scales, preventing any heavy paint buildup over panel lines and retaining the crisp rivet details of your kit. The paint comes pre-thinned and ready for airbrush use, ensuring a perfectly smooth atomization and uniform coverage right out of the bottle.

💡 Laboratory Application Tips

  • Preparation (Primer): A White Primer is highly recommended. Orange pigments are naturally translucent; a pure white base ensures the maximum color saturation, pop, and brightness of the Gulf Orange without dulling or darkening the final shade.
  • Painting Technique: Apply in wet yet controlled coats. Since it is a solid color, uniform passes with slightly overlapping strokes allow the pigment to level perfectly across the surface, creating a smooth base free of orange-peel texture.
  • Finishing: A high-quality Gloss Clearcoat is required. This not only replicates the period-correct, high-gloss mirror finish of classic race cars but also seals and protects your vintage Gulf sponsors' decals.

⚠️ Chromatic Fidelity Notes

Real Scale vs. Miniature: This formula has been laboratory-adjusted to mitigate the "scale effect," ensuring that light reflection on the miniature is perfectly proportional to that of the real vehicle.

Visual note: Digital images are for reference only. The true three-depth color effect and authentic pigment brilliance are only fully visible after the model has been painted and clearcoated.
