Orange Pearl: a glowing custom-paint orange

Orange Pearl is a warm, vivid orange lifted by a pearlescent sheen, the kind of colour that belongs to custom paint shops, show bikes and hot rods. Where a solid orange looks flat and bold, the pearl gives the surface a silky glow that shifts slightly between orange and gold as the light moves. It is a great choice for custom motorcycles, lowriders, tuner cars and fantasy builds, and it also works as a modern alternative to classic orange on sports cars. Build it in light, even coats over a white base.

The problem with pearls

Pearl effects show every mistake: wet passes cluster the pearl into blotches, and uneven coats change the colour from panel to panel. Controlled, even, slightly drier passes give a smooth, consistent shimmer.

How to apply

1. Shake the bottle for at least 60 seconds.
2. Prime with a white primer and let it dry fully.
3. Airbrush straight from the bottle, no thinning needed. Use a 0.2–0.4 mm nozzle at around 20 PSI (1.4 bar) and apply light, cross-hatched coats, letting each one flash off before the next.
4. Keep the airbrush moving at a constant distance for an even effect.
5. Let the paint cure overnight before masking or clear-coating.
6. Seal with a water-based clear coat: gloss for a factory shine, or satin or matte for work vehicles and interiors.
7. Clean the airbrush with water before the paint dries.

Shelf life

Estimated shelf life of more than 12 months when stored tightly closed between +10 °C and +28 °C, away from frost and direct sunlight. Shake well before use; if the paint has thickened or separated and does not remix, do not use it.
