RAL 2013 Pearl Orange: Warm orange with a shifting pearl glow

RAL 2013 Pearl Orange is one of the pearlescent shades in the RAL Classic range. Instead of a flat orange, it carries a fine pearl effect that shifts subtly as the light moves across it, giving real depth to curved surfaces. It is found on architectural elements, shop fittings and design objects, and in scale it suits custom paint jobs on cars, motorcycles and helmets. The effect is most convincing on smooth, well-prepared bodywork finished with a gloss clear coat. A white primer keeps the orange warm.

The problem with pearls

Pearl effects show every mistake: wet passes cluster the pearl into blotches, and uneven coats change the colour from panel to panel. Controlled, even, slightly drier passes give a smooth, consistent shimmer.

How to apply

1. Shake the bottle for at least 60 seconds.
2. Prime with a white primer and let it dry fully.
3. Airbrush straight from the bottle, no thinning needed. Use a 0.2–0.4 mm nozzle at around 20 PSI (1.4 bar) and apply light, cross-hatched coats, letting each one flash off before the next.
4. Keep the airbrush moving at a constant distance for an even effect.
5. Let the paint cure overnight before masking or clear-coating.
6. Seal with a water-based clear coat: gloss for a factory shine, or satin or matte for work vehicles and interiors.
7. Clean the airbrush with water before the paint dries.

Shelf life

Estimated shelf life of more than 12 months when stored tightly closed between +10 °C and +28 °C, away from frost and direct sunlight. Shake well before use; if the paint has thickened or separated and does not remix, do not use it.
