RAL 3032 Pearl Ruby Red: Deep ruby red with a glowing pearl

RAL 3032 Pearl Ruby Red is a deep red with a fine pearlescent sparkle, one of the pearl shades in the RAL Classic collection. The pearl effect gives it depth and movement on curved surfaces, and it is used on architectural panels, design objects and vehicles. Modelers use it for custom cars, luxury saloons, motorcycles and show models where a rich, glowing red is wanted. Finish with a high-gloss clear coat to bring out the effect. A grey primer gives the best depth.

The problem with pearls

Pearl effects show every mistake: wet passes cluster the pearl into blotches, and uneven coats change the colour from panel to panel. Controlled, even, slightly drier passes give a smooth, consistent shimmer.

How to apply

1. Shake the bottle for at least 60 seconds.
2. Prime with a grey primer and let it dry fully.
3. Airbrush straight from the bottle, no thinning needed. Use a 0.2–0.4 mm nozzle at around 20 PSI (1.4 bar) and apply light, cross-hatched coats, letting each one flash off before the next.
4. Keep the airbrush moving at a constant distance for an even effect.
5. Let the paint cure overnight before masking or clear-coating.
6. Seal with a water-based clear coat: gloss for a factory shine, or satin or matte for work vehicles and interiors.
7. Clean the airbrush with water before the paint dries.

Shelf life

Estimated shelf life of more than 12 months when stored tightly closed between +10 °C and +28 °C, away from frost and direct sunlight. Shake well before use; if the paint has thickened or separated and does not remix, do not use it.
